Questions and answers about Diving in Marsa Alam
Can I dive if I can't swim?
Of course! Swimming is not required for diving. What's more, diving is often much better perceived by people who can't swim/are afraid of water than snorkeling with a mask and a snorkel.
How old does a child have to be to be able to scuba dive?
At least 8 years.
How deep will we go?
By default, in diving for beginners, it goes down to 5-6 m. However, we approach each person individually, so if someone is very afraid, we dive less, if someone is very good at water, the immersion is deeper.
How long is this journey?
The diving cruise lasts from approx. 8.00 to approx. 15.00. Of course we pick up from hotels in advance, usually between 7am and 7:30am depending on the location of the hotel.
Why does the trip last almost all day if we only dive twice for 20 minutes?
First of all, you need to swim to the reef before diving. A maximum of 2 people with one instructor go under the water at the same time. There are several instructors, but with 20 divers there will definitely not be 10 instructors. So you dive one by one, and people who don't dive within a certain time can dive with a mask and snorkel. In addition, there is also lunch on the ship between one dive and another, and after lunch a break before going down to the water.
Can I dive if I've never done it before?
Of course! Diving for beginners, the so-called intro diving is diving for people who do not have (or have little) diving experience.
When can't I dive?
It is forbidden to dive 24 hours before the flight.
How many people go underwater with one instructor at the same time?
Up to two people at a time, but usually one instructor per person.
How long is the dive?
A beginner's dive consists of two dives of approximately 20 minutes each. However, the length of time a person stays underwater depends to a large extent on the person. If someone feels comfortable underwater and is good at diving, he stays underwater longer than a person who, for example, has a problem with regulating the pressure in the ears.
Can a person who does not want to dive take part in the cruise?
Yes, there may be accompanying persons on the cruise who will only snorkel with a mask and a snorkel. The price of the tour in this case is lower - $ 25.
