Brothers Daedalus Elphinstone (BDE)

This tour is the Holy Trinity of the Red Sea. Brothers Daedalus Elphinstone (BDE) is a coastal national park and a must-visit for any keen diver. The area is known for all types of sharks, including tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, ocean sharks, whale sharks, as well as thresher sharks, silky sharks, and reef sharks. These are exclusive dive sites where no everyday boats are seen. The area is home to some of the rarer species of the Red Sea.

The Red Sea is a paradise for divers, with crystal clear waters, an abundance of marine life and diverse underwater landscapes. Of the many dive sites that the Red Sea offers, there are three that stand out as the most spectacular and challenging: Brothers, Daedalus and Elfinston. These three dive sites are located in the southern part of the Red Sea, far from the shore, and are only accessible by full-board boats. They are part of a protected area and offer some of the best diving experiences in the world.

The Brothers are two small islands that rise from the deep sea about 100 kilometers east of El Quseir. They are known for their stunning face dive, with vertical drops that go down to over 300 meters. The walls are covered with soft corals, gorgonians, sponges and sea anemones, creating a colorful backdrop for the diverse fish life. Brothers are also famous for their shark encounters as they attract many species of pelagic sharks such as hammerhead, oceanic whitetip, thresher, silky and reef sharks. Sometimes even tiger sharks and whale sharks can be seen around the islands. The brothers also have two historic wrecks that add to their charm: Aida and Numidia. Aida was an Egyptian supply ship that sank in 1957 after hitting a reef. It lies between 30 and 60 meters and is home to many fish and corals. Numidia was a British cargo ship that sank in 1901 after colliding with an island. It lies between 10 and 85 meters and is almost vertical on the wall. It is also covered in corals and fish and offers spectacular snorkelling.

Daedalus Reef is a large circular reef that is about 80 kilometers east of Marsa Alam. It has a lighthouse on top that serves as a landmark for boats. Daedalus Reef has imposing walls that drop to over 100 meters and is adorned with coral formations and overhangs. The reef is also a hotspot for shark sightings, especially wave hammerheads, which can be seen in large flocks during the summer months. Other sharks that frequent the reef include oceanic whitetip, thresher sharks, mantas, and reef sharks. Daedalus Reef also has a variety of fish life such as tuna, horse mackerel, archer, barracuda, turtles, dolphins and napoleons.

Elfinston Reef is a long and narrow reef that is about 12 kilometers north of Marsa Alam. It has two plateaus at the northern and southern ends that are covered with hard and soft corals and host a rich variety of fish.
